SIMPSONVILLE CITY COUNCIL

BUSINESS SESSION

JULY 14, 2009

6:30 p.m.

City Council Chambers – 118 N. E. Main St .

 

COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Waldrop, Ron Bridges, Brown Garrett, Patty Sanders, Tammy Bagwell, George Curtis and Bruce Larson

STAFF PPRESENT: Russell Hawes , City Administrator, David Holmes , City Attorney, Judy Bishop, Robbie Davis, David Dyrhaug, and Melinda Zeller

INVOCATION by Councilmember Sanders:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES : Motion by Councilmember Bagwell to approve the June 9, 2009 and June 23, 2009 meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously.

PUBLIC HEARING: AX-2009-01, Annexation of 215 Cherokee Drive

Motion by Councilmember Bagwell to amend the agenda to include an Event on

August 6 th by HIS Radio, The Well and The YMCA. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Councilmember Bagwell to allow the above mentioned. Motion carried unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

A. ORDINANCES: 1 ST READING

1. AX-2009-01, Annexation of 215 Cherokee Drive . Motion by Councilmember Larson to accept Ordinance AX-2009-01, Annexation of 215 Cherokee Drive. Motion carried unanimously.

  2. TX-2008-02, Design Review Ordinance. Motion by Councilmember Curtis to accept Ordinance TX-2008-02, Design Review Ordinance. Motion carried unanimously.   

B.   ACTION ITEMS:

   1. Accommodations Tax Committee Bylaws. Councilmember Bagwell moves to approve Accommodations Tax Committee Bylaws as recommended by Staff. Motion carried unanimously.

  2. Labor Day Festival. Motion by Councilmember Bagwell to allow The Chamber to have the Labor Day Festival at either location City Park , Downtown or Heritage Park . Motion carried unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS

1. Ordinance to Amend 2008-06 GO Bond Ordinance. Motion by Councilmember Bagwell to amend the Ordinance 2008-06 GO Bond Ordinance to include the purchase of the engine for the refuse truck. Motion carried unanimously.

EXECUTIVE SESSION . Motion by Councilmember Curtis to go into executive session to discuss a contractual matter in the Fire Department, contractual matter in the Recreation Department and a personnel matter in the Administration Department. Motion carried unanimously.

Council came out of Executive Session at 8:50 PM. Mayor Waldrop reported that no action was taken.

 

 

ADJOURNMENT . Motion by Councilmember Sanders to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
