Planner I
The City of Simpsonville is seeking a highly motivated Planner I to work under the direction of the City's Planning Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning (or a related field) and at least one year of urban planning experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ESRI ArcGIS. Proficiency with other computer graphic design programs such as Google SketchUp is strongly desired.
- Available to attend evening meetings on a regular basis.
- A valid South Carolina driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
Job Duties:
- Perform professional and tehnical duties in short- and long-range planning and zoning administration and enforcement.
- Review and evaluate rezoning petitions, site plans, subdivision plats, special exception permits, variances, and other proposals.
- Prepare statistical data, reports, and maps pertaining to planning-related issues.
- Provide staff support for and attend meetings of the planning commission and board of zoning appeals.
- Provide zoning information to interested parties and resolve day-to-day zoning issues.
- Investigate and enforce compliance with the zoning ordinance.
- Conduct field evaluations and assessments related to planning and zoning.
- Other duties as assigned by the City's Planning Director.
