Crews respond to structure fire in downtown business
No injuries reported
Simpsonville, S.C. —
The Simpsonville Fire Department responded on Thursday morning to a report of a structure fire at a business on South Main Street.
Crews found that the blaze at the rear of the building in Me Salon & Day Spa had extended to the second floor. Firefighters contained the fire damage to the salon, which officials described as a “total loss” in terms of damage.
Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said the City is saddened by the damage to the salon and grateful there were no injuries.
“We extend our thoughts and prayers to those whom the fire has impacted,” Campbell said. “The City wants to recognize the Fountain Inn, Mauldin and Simpsonville firefighters for preventing the fire from spreading and doing even more damage or causing injury. We cannot thank them enough for their daily service.”
A report of the fire was made around 6-6:30 a.m. Crews from the cities of Fountain Inn and Mauldin responded to the scene to assist Simpsonville firefighters.
Me Salon & Day Spa is the only business closed due to the fire as of 3 p.m. Thursday. Officials continued investigating the scene Thursday afternoon.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
