City of Simpsonville places in Top 25 for 2021 pledge campaign

Simpsonville, S.C. — City of Simpsonville employees were awarded the Chairman's Award by the United Way of Greenville County for their participation in the nonprofit's 2021 pledge campaign.

City employees pledged more than $18,000 to programs and initiatives supported by the United Way that address education, financial stability and community in Greenville County. Criteria for the Chairman's Award include at least 50% participation; at least a 10% increase in giving between 2020 and 2021; average of at least $100 per donor; and earning a spot in the Top 25 Campaigns.

Simpsonville city employees had an impressive 70% participation rate in 2021 and increased their contributions by 40% from 2020. Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said City staff and employees are committed to giving back to those in need.

"City leadership has made the United Way of Greenville County pledge campaign a priority because staff and employees recognize the importance of supporting programs and initiatives that improve quality of life across the entirety of Greenville County, not just inside Simpsonville city limits," said Campbell, who also serves as campaign coordinator for the City. "The Chairman's Award is a testament to the simple value of giving that is shared by all City employees."

The City of Simpsonville has pledged a total of $67,500 over the past five campaigns.
