Council to review proposed budget
Spending requires no millage increase
Simpsonville, S.C. — Simpsonville City Council will get a look at the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year in a presentation by City Hall on Tuesday.
City Council is holding its regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. City Administrator Dianna Gracely will present to Council a balanced budget that totals $20.2 million, requires no tax or millage increase and does not borrow from the fund balance in the general fund.
The proposed budget for fiscal year 2021-2022 includes $250,000 for road resurfacing needs in the Public Works enterprise fund and a special revenue fund for renovations to the Simpsonville Potato House and sound and lighting improvements for the Simpsonville Arts Center. Also included in the Public Works enterprise fund is funding for new trash cans and four trash trucks to allow for in-house sanitation starting in September.
Adoption of a new budget requires two readings at regularly scheduled business meetings. Council is expected to consider first reading of the budget in May.
