Frozen II showing June 11, 2020
Public asked to practice social distancing
Release Date: June 11, 2020
Simpsonville, S.C. — The Parks & Recreation Department will host a free showing of Frozen II Thursday night to kick off the 2020 season of Movies in the Park.
The movie will be shown at sunset in the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park. Gates open at 7:30 p.m.
Lawn and folding chairs, beach towels and food and beverages in coolers or picnic baskets are allowed. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said the City is excited about the premiere of Movies in the Park.
"Movies in the Park is a way for the City of Simpsonville to provide residents and visitors with an opportunity for family-friendly fun that all can enjoy," Campbell said. "The City has had to cancel other events due to the global pandemic, but its phased-in approach to resuming normal government operations has enabled the City to move forward with this popular event."
To help prevent the spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019, the City is asking the public to practice social distancing by maintaining 6 feet between individual groups' chosen spots on the grass for viewing the movie. Signs reminding the public to follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention will be displayed.
People who are experiencing cold- or flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing are asked to stay home so as not to spread the virus. The public is also encouraged to frequently wash their hands, cover their mouths if they cough and, if feasible, wear face coverings.
"The City wants families and kids to have fun and be safe," Campbell said. "Following CDC guidelines makes both possible."
The Movies in the Park series will continue on July 16 with a free showing of Toy Story 4 and Aug. 4 with a free showing of Playing with Fire.
