Veterans Day Ceremony to be held at Summit Church
Ceremony returns to in-person gathering
Simpsonville, S.C. — The Simpsonville Veterans Day Ceremony returns this year to an in-person gathering on Nov. 11 at Summit Church.
After producing a video tribute to veterans in 2020 due to the pandemic, the City of Simpsonville and Simpsonville Parks & Recreation Department are again hosting an in-person ceremony at 11 a.m. at 603 W. Curtis St
Featured at the ceremony will be keynote speaker Rev. Mike Smith of Simpsonville United Methodist Church, U.S. Army and a Quilts of Valor presentation by Tamika Rowe, U.S. Army. Simpsonville Fire Department officials will act as the color guard, and Pastor Nathan Forrest of Summit Church will provide the invocation.
Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said the City of Simpsonville wants to give veterans the recognition that they deserve.
"Whether the tribute is a video or in-person ceremony, publicly acknowledging the sacrifices that veterans have made for this country is essential to showing gratitude for those sacrifices," Campbell said. "City officials are happy that we can again host an in-person ceremony and witness veterans receiving their custom-made quilts from Quilts of Valor. We encourage the public to join us in paying our appreciation."
