1 ton of trash on I-385 picked up by Public Works
Simpsonville crew takes 2,080 pounds of garbage to landfill
Simpsonville, S.C. — A crew from the Simpsonville Public Works Department picked up more than a ton of trash from Interstate-385 on Tuesday.
After a walk that spanned three miles between mile markers 26 to 29, a Simpsonville truck hauled off 2,080 pounds of garbage and refuse to the Greenville County Twin Chimneys Landfill in Honea Path.
Public Works Director Andy West said his employees did an impressive job removing litter from the Simpsonville area.
"I'm proud of our guys for the great job that they always do but especially for the hard work that they put in this week to keep Simpsonville and its surrounding area beautiful," West said. "The Simpsonville Public Works crew went above and beyond, and the Upstate looks better for it."

The roadway that Simpsonville Public Works cleared on Tuesday extended south between the West Georgia and Harrison Bridge roads exits. While those three miles of roadway are under the care of the S.C. Department of Transportation, the DOT has suspended labor crews during the pandemic to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
