Tree replacement in downtown

Tree Work 1

As part of a streetscaping effort to beautify downtown Simpsonville, Public Works began on Jan. 29th replacing seven trees on South East Main Street between West Curtis and West Trade streets.

Although portions of the sidewalk and some parking spaces will be affected, Public Works officials plan to stop work if feasible before lunch and resume work the next morning. Public Works officials stopped work by 10 a.m. on Jan. 29th, for example.

The trees designated for replacement are in decline, posing safety hazards for vehicles and pedestrians, and compromising underground storm drains.

Public Works will start planting the new trees  in early February, weather permitting.
