Simpsonville PD to host The Blood Connection for blood drive
Blood drive on May 19 to be held in celebration of Law Enforcement Appreciation Week
Simpsonville, S.C. — The Simpsonville Police Department is hosting a blood drive by The Blood Connection in celebration of Law Enforcement Appreciation Week on May 19 at 2-7 p.m. on East Curtis Street.
Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, or National Police Week, takes place May 15-May 21 to honor the role of law enforcement in service to society by recognizing the sacrifices and valor of public safety officials, educating the community and making it safer for those who serve.
Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said The Blood Connection is always in need of donations, adding Law Enforcement Appreciation Week is the perfect time to acknowledge how important and life-saving donated blood can be to injured public safety officials and law enforcement officers.
“About 20 units of blood can save up to 60 lives, and it’s assured that efforts by The Blood Connection to increase donations directly impacts the lives of law enforcement officers,” Campbell said. “With more blood given by the public, more lives can be saved, including the lives of the people who serve and protect those very donors. The Simpsonville Police Department and City of Simpsonville encourage and urge members of the public who are able to do so to donate blood on May 19.”
Members of the public can sign up to reserve a spot by visiting The Blood Connection donor portal.
