Simpsonville, S.C. — The City of Simpsonville is proud to announce that Russell Orr was awarded Employee of the Year for the City of Simpsonville at the Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 A-List Awards.
Orr’s professional journey reflects a career dedicated to service and leadership. A graduate of Greenville Technical College (’83) and Limestone College, Orr spent 20 years managing infrastructure operations in the software and asset management industry before joining the City of Simpsonville in 2017. He began his public service career as a technician III in the Public Works Department before transitioning to City Hall in 2019, where he currently serves as IT/Procurement Specialist.
Beyond his professional achievements, Orr has been married to his wife, Denise, since 1990. Together they have two sons, Chris and Daniel, and a daughter-in-law, Kinnidy, whom Chris married in 2024. He is deeply committed to family, faith, and community, having volunteered with church youth and children’s programs for more than 25 years. His personal interests include fitness, American history—particularly World War I and World War II—antique shopping, crollecting military Bibles and advertising memorabilia and enjoying classic films.
“Chosen for the Employee of the Year Award by his peers at City Hall, this employee is the epitome of hard work, dedication, and service above self,” Simpsonville City Administrator Tee Coker said during the awards ceremony. “He seems to be everywhere all at once. He oversees, for all departments, the city’s infrastructure for information technology and telecommunications in addition to a million and one other challenges, issues, tasks, questions, and requests that he receives. … Congratulations to Russell Orr, City of Simpsonville Employee of the Year.”
