Simpsonville City Council held a regularly scheduled business meeting on July 8, 2025 in Council Chambers a.k.a. “The Ellipse.” Below is a recap of the meeting:
Present: Councilman Chad O’Rear (Ward 1), Councilman Aaron Rupe (Ward 2), Councilwoman Shannon Williams (Ward 3), Councilwoman Sherry Roche (Ward 4), Councilman Tim Pinkerton (Ward 5), Councilman Lou Hutchings (Ward 6), Mayor Paul Shewmaker
- By a vote of 6-1, City Council approved a development agreement for the Burdette North District Redevelopment Project, which includes the old city hall property at 118 N.E. Main St.
- Yes – Councilman Lou Hutchings, Councilman Tim Pinkerton, Councilwoman Sherry Roche, Councilman Aaron Rupe, Mayor Paul Shewmaker, Councilwoman Shannon Williams
- No – Councilman Chad O’Rear
- By a vote of 4-3, City Council approved the sale of the city-owned property at 118 N.E. Main St., the location of the old city hall. The sale of the old city hall property is related to the approved development agreement for the Burdette North District Redevelopment Project.

- By a vote of 7-0, City Council approved a land lease agreement with Greenville County for the property at 445 E. Curtis St. where the South Greenville Summary Court building is located in the Simpsonville Municipal Complex. Relevant to the City of Simpsonville is that the building houses Simpsonville Municipal Court.
- By a vote of 6-1, City Council approved an ordinance entitled “Enactment of Ordinances,” which requires that an approved ordinance be submitted to the City of Simpsonville’s Code of Ordinances codifying agency for codification within (ten) 10 business days, excluding holidays. For clarity, the ordinance addresses only the timeline for the submission by the City of approved ordinances to the codifying agency, not the actual codification of the ordinances, which the codifying agency determines.
